Hello! We’re a crew of friends combining our passions and professions within a shared workspace in North Center, Chicago.
Whether commiserating across industries or sharing a drink, we’re here to do the work and have some fun, side by side. Plus it’s nice to be out of the damn house.
Our space is ~1k sq ft, with 7 large desks, 2 semi-enclosed phone booths, a kitchenette, and a lounge area. Created to be an easygoing place to work and hang out, the space supports a variety of member hobbies (photo equipment, work bench), club-house essentials (pool table, Nintendo Switch), and workday basics (coffee maker, refrigerator, etc).
We currently offer two tiers of access to Side By Side.
Dedicated Desk, $350/month Best for individuals looking to use the space on a more full-time basis. Members are welcome to bring in any equipment and accessories to outfit their desk setup. A dedicated desk can be shared (e.g. a couple is welcome to swap days).
Shared Desk, $175/month For individuals who do not require a dedicated full time desk. Part time members may come up to 2-3 days per week and can use any workspace that is not assigned to a full time member. Tables, couches, and desks with monitors are available on a first come, first serve basis.

All members sign an agreement to treat one another with respect and help keep the space in great shape. In other words: follow the rules your mom [probably] taught you. Wash your dishes, put them away, help take out the trash, clean up after yourself (and your dog, if they come along), and be kind to your fellow members. If everyone does the little things, Side by Side stays a place everyone enjoys working from. Plus: it prevents fruit flies.
Note: Desk availability fluctuates and we cannot guarantee a spot to all inquiries. Due to the tight knit nature of the space, we schedule meetings with interested individuals before locking in new members. At the moment, we do not do walk-ins or daily rates.
